Villa with Infinity Pool

A three-storey villa on a slope facing the view, delivered turnkey with an infinity pool, a line of jets along it and a hexagonal gazebo.

How an infinity edge actually works

In an infinity pool the water spills continuously over the edge facing the view; it falls into a catch tank below and is pumped back. Whether the effect holds depends entirely on one thing: the overflow edge being at exactly the same level along its whole length. A few millimetres of deviation makes the water run at one point and leave another dry. After the concrete was poured, the edge was checked with a precision level and the marble coping set to that survey.

Slope and catch tank

The pool sits on the view side, which is where the slope falls. The catch tank and pump set were placed at the level below that edge, behind the retaining wall, so no separate technical structure appears in the garden. Retaining wall and pool shell were sized in relation to each other rather than separately.

Evening scheme and gazebo

The row of jets along the pool and the recessed blue lighting were installed for evening use; the fitting cables sit in conduit cast into the shell so they can be drawn again later. The tile-roofed hexagonal gazebo was placed to the side of the pool rather than on the view side, so it does not block the outlook.

Outcome

In an infinity pool the whole job gathers on one line: the overflow edge. When level accuracy, tank size and pump flow are solved together, the edge runs quietly and evenly. See our spa, pool and wellness construction page or request a quotation for your own site.
