Villa Pool with Winter Garden

In the garden of an existing villa, a pool area enclosed by a glass winter garden and, beside it, a second open-air pool; the two meet on a shared terrace.

Why both enclosed and open

In Turkey a villa pool gets used four months of the year. Enclosing a volume in glass extends that; the open pool is there for the use that does not want to be behind glass in summer. Feeding both pools from a single plant room avoided installing filtration and heating equipment twice.

The real issue with a glass enclosure: humidity

In an enclosed pool space the work is not erecting the glass but managing moisture. Heated water evaporates, the vapour condenses on cold glass, and the condensate has to go somewhere. A condensation channel and drain were formed in the bottom profile of the glazing, and the ventilation grilles were positioned so that the air flow runs along the glass surface.

Two pools, one terrace

The transition between enclosed and open pool was left level; there is no step to climb with wet feet. The white steps and light finish of the open pool are a deliberate contrast to the dark framing of the glass volume. The mature pines around were kept, and the excavation routed outside their root zones.

Outcome

Success in a pool with a winter garden is not how the glass looks but whether it is still free of dripping after the first winter. Condensation and ventilation were solved here before the glazing was ordered. See our spa, pool and wellness construction page or request a quotation for your own site.
